Hymn Struck

唱的是Be Thou My Vision,是我多年來其中一首all time favourites

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Original lyrics: ancient Irish hymn
Translated into English by
Mary Byrne, 1905
Versed by
Eleanor Hull, 1912
Music: Slane (Irish)

Do you aspire to be up there one day?我搖頭,No。她說,Really Are you being honest (我還記得Anna說過她的Chinese name is黎敏玲,不過除了這三隻字之外,我未聽過她講第四隻中文字。)

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise, Thou mine inheritance, now and always。

Hi, I am Angie Ng. Have kept viewing your blog for your updates and enjoying your inspiring and amusing messages.
Too lazy to respond, but this time yes. Me too. I love this song very much. I don't know how and why the memory of this song somehow linked with you. In early days, I was moved by the melody and now more the proclaimation and will postraited. My heart always get comfort and strengthening everytime I hear or sing this song.
Michelle and I are also great fans of 'West Wing'. We have the DVD for the 1st two series and have watched them for ten times more or less. It is so enjoyable yet demanding to me because of its fast pace and wordy that I have to be very attentive. But then we missed the latter series.
Ah, Michelle will not go to UK for university study but stay in HKUST - BBA. Many reasons. Thank God that everythings are settled right now and may God bless her as always.
Will you come back this summer? (Well this summer is passing already). Anyway hope to see you sometime, someplace. Blessings
Angie

ANGIE: Thanks for being a constant reader, and thank you for leaving your footprint - finally.
'I don't know how and why the memory of this song somehow linked with you.' You really don't know why? I know! Because, when in church, I often don't really sing the hymns; but when I come across hymns that I like (such as this one), I tend to sing louder than your husband's hifi. It's not surprising that you link this hymn to me.
Congratulations to Michelle. UST is a strong school, its Business School is arguably the best choice you can go for a business degree. Saves you a lot of money, at least.
And ... O, O, O, this summer is passing already? O...aiya ... I try not to look at the calendar too often ga la.
