龍媽的燻魚 :: Lung Ma's smoked fish

My pastor-friend's 94-year-old mother rested in peace recently.  While our circle calls her Lung Ma, she used to address me as Mr Yam, which is sort of embarrassing for someone considerably younger than her youngest son.  To the best of my knowledge, something comparable to her homemade Shanghai-style smoked fish is yet to emerge  from any Chinese restaurant in the world.  Her memorial homepage is HERE.

          大概因為她兒子是牧師,教會裡多半人都稱她盧師太。我們那一撮的,卻總是叫她龍媽。

          龍媽早前某天在家吃過午飯,本來只是稍事休息,上主卻讓她就此安息了。她兒子形容她那九十四年的生命,是 「艱苦我奮進,困乏我多情」的寫照。

          我跟龍媽其實見面不多,而且好像踏入本世紀以來都沒見過了,但一些小事卻是我多年都無法忘記的。

          譬如,爽朗豪邁不拘禮的她,總是喜歡任先生前任先生後的稱呼我。明明是晚輩,給龍媽這樣叫,次次都讓我手足無措不懂反應。

          另外就是她親手做的燻魚,人間極品難以形容,走遍港澳台中日韓新馬美加歐英蘇(格蘭),縱橫各個檔次的中式食肆幾十年,始終吃不到能媲美龍媽燻魚這個benchmark的。

          如今,能讓人抓回龍媽一鱗半爪的,就是這個紀念網站了。

11月1日補充

眾人提到龍媽做的美食,總是離不開菜肉包叉燒包等等包點 (看看紀念網站就知道了),甚至有跟她共處了廿多年的,竟然說沒有印象吃過燻魚。呵呵,真是! 我有份吃龍媽燻魚的年代,還在愛華村,那時Gigi還在呢。
