做神學的人繼續有福了... more theological freebies

          Blackwell Synergy 已經把最新一期 Dialog 46.1 (Spring 2007) 全期內容公開，讓任何人免費閱讀，功德無量。

          Dialog 是信義宗的神學期刊，以該宗派神學與社會議題之間的對話為重點，故名。本期主題是『Did Luther get Paul Wrong？』(路德誤解了保羅嗎？)，我只看了目錄，未有時間看內容，看其大勢，似是衝著近廿年來反轉新約神學界的 new perspectives on Paul 而來。如果從早年EP Sanders到James Dunn到目前的NT Wright等人是對的話，那麼馬丁路德又是否搞錯了呢？此問題信義宗神學家會怎樣看，應該非常有趣。其中The Romans Debate (1991, 2001) 作者Karl P. Donfried的文章《路德真的搞錯了？》，值得特別留意。

          此外有Robert Jensen的 『神學自傳』(theological autobiography)。這是Dialog去年才推出的新欄目，讓我等後輩管窺前輩大師的思路歷程，可供神學人消閑之用，或者有益過只顧閉門寫論文。此欄上期是由倡議『開放神論』(open theism)的 Clark Pinnock 寫《一個不再保守的福音信仰神學家的自白》 (Confessions of a Post-conservative Evangelical Theologian)，我甚感興趣。

          今期還有一篇新加坡三一神學院教授、咱T同學以前的老師、循道衛理宗學者Roland Chia的文章，從基督新教角度回應教宗本篤十六世去年發表的演說《Faith，Reason，and the University》，華裔神學人或許會特別感興趣。

          學術期刊網上開放，大勢所趨，小心。

做神學的人有福了，因為期刊是他們的。

近日無意中發現好些神學期刊的近期內容，已經放了上網，全文可供免費閱讀，實在是我輩神學人之福。

今年春季剛發刊的 International Journal of Public Theology ，把創刊號開放了，精采文章有前任愛丁堡基督教倫理與應用神學教授、現任普林斯頓神學探究中心主管 William Storrar 論公共神學的契機時刻，其他還有南非John W. de Gruchy，曼徹斯特Elaine Graham，劍橋David Ford 等等等等，還有香港中文大學吳梓明 (噢？) 的大作。

另外 International Journal of Systematic Theology 亦把今年一月出版的九卷一期開放免費閱讀，詳情自己看。

更好玩的是同一期刊的『流行榜』，包括『二十篇最多人讀的文章』 (20 most read articles) 和『二十篇最多人引述的文章』(20 most cited articles)，從中可略為窺探 (系統) 神學界的口味興趣和走勢。這部份需要登入閣下或者貴學府的Athens account才能讀到全文，否則只好讀abstract了。

不過真正的好戲，還在 International Journal of Systematic Theology 新推出的網上先睹為快服務：『OnlineEarly』，是已經編輯好修改好可以準備出版但還尚未排期付印的文章。不過可恨，到這一刻為止，似乎敝校還沒有訂閱這個免費先睹為快服務，我也只能望abstract興嘆。如果貴學府有的話，恭喜。

John Macquarrie 1919-2007：神學家給神學家寫的悼文

夜裡收工後，從別人的網誌知道，廿世紀中後期大師級神學家John Macquarrie走了。

愛丁堡大學神學院 David Fergusson 院長為 John Macquarrie 寫了悼文，刊於今日（6月1日）《獨立報》。讀一篇神學家為神學家寫的悼文，頗為有趣。(Fergusson 教授可能是他的學生，我不肯定。)【全文在此】

約翰麥奎利屬於二十世紀中後期的大師級神學家，尤其著力於基督信仰與當代文化 (特別是存在主義) 之間的匯通。

我有一次很希奇，一個英國劍橋大學的神學博士，講神學講座的時候，他的題目變成「廚房神學」，在廚房怎麼煮菜的神學。題目用完了，就講這些吸引人的題目，盼望有一些家庭主婦也來聽神學講座。我想「在做什麼？難道神的道已經沒有可講的嗎？難道聖經裡面的知識我們已經講完了嗎？」

What a classical demonstration of attacking the straw man, of shooting without a real target (無的放矢), of prejudging without truly knowing (don't even imagine 'understanding') the object of criticism, of gender bias and stereotyping. But I'll set aside all these, as there is a more fundamental issue at stake here.

According to this 'paradigm' (if there is any), there is no relationship between theology or the talk of God and everyday life. Hence theology and daily life are two totally unrelated (and unrelatable) realms. If that is the case, then, what has God to do with us?

To the best of my limited knowledge, that is not the God portrayed in the Hebrew and Christian Bible.

Anyway, those who are familiar enough with the Chinese-language theological scene (or at least that in Hong Kong) might probably be able to guess who he is talking about. This reminds me of the fact that that noted theologian from Hong Kong has written a book entitled 《廚房哲學》 (Kitchen Philosophy)，and then two or three elaborations on that.
