我從來不是The West Wing的擁躉，片集由1999 (還是2000?) 推出以來，從來沒有真正看過－－直到去年，Channel 4 在免費數碼電視 (Digital Freeview) 裡推出新頻道More4，以首播第六季的The West Wing作其中一項重點推廣，播映時段剛好是我慣常的煮食/晚飯時間 (星期五9pm / 星期日8pm)，便給了自己一個藉口「順理成章」地開始收看。

誰料不看尤可，一看停不了。如今由第六季追到第七季 (據說是結局篇了)，劇本絲絲入扣的精妙，人物血肉縱橫，劇情交錯美國社會政治議題和國際形勢，我只能像大力金剛腿推銷「少能武功」一樣說：「近！」

其 中個多月前有一集，完全令我放下晚餐看得眼定定。那次整集從頭到尾是一場總統競選的電視辯論，全無其他枝節，候選人和主持人的表現跟真的競選辯論完全一 樣，議題、論點、措詞水平之高，則比現實要精彩得多。我背負著九十幾年的傳媒製作經驗，看的時候職業病發作，不停在想，嘩，點拍呢？點拍呢？後來看到的資 料說，原來那一集在美國播映的時候，是全集現場直播的。即是說，那辯論是兩位「候選人」的臨場真功夫。嘩 …
